FAQ concerning INGUN test probes

About INGUN?
INGUN is a manufacturer of test probes and fixtures, established in 1971, in Constance, Germany, they offer more than twenty thousand probe types, including special purpose probes such as high current, high frequency, etc.. INGUN has gained the trust and confidence of their customers through achievements and innovation that have been cultivated over 50 years since their establishment. This is a testament to their position as the world leading manufacture of probes and sockets (NOTE) All probes and sockets of INGUN meets the RoHS directive.

What type of probes do you have?
INGUN supplies probes, not only for in-circuit and functional test but also for high current, high frequency applications. INGUN offers more than twenty thousand probe types. Steel is used as standard material, and gold-plated for most of the probes. Standard operation temperature is between -100 to 200 degree Celsius.

How to read the type number?
Ask us for detail.
What are the benefits of using a socket?
It is easy to exchange old probes with new one.
Do you have a probe for lead-free solder?
WIT recommends E-Type series probe.
The E-Type probe series with high initial spring pressure is used to solve the problem of poor contact caused by the flux of lead-free solder. The E-Type probe has approx. 1.6 times higher initial spring pressure than regular probes and at 4.3mm, (recommended stroke) the spring pressure converges into normal spring pressure so that it does not damage the PCB. This E-Type probe realizes same energy as conventional high voltage probes.
Any tool for cleaning probe tip?
E.Q.O. mat is a proprietary cleaning material that removes contamination such as flux and oxides found on the tip of probes.
It cleans solder flux, oxide film, etc. so that it avoids poor contact of the probes.
E.Q.Omat is an important process that extends probe life, it is inexpensive and very user friendly.
What is a merit of high frequency probes (coaxial probes)?
It provides measurement of high frequency, with direct contact to high frequency connector and switch.
For example, by using it for FCT jig etc., it reduces the time for inspection process which was done by manual cable connection. Can be used for various applications such as connectors of FAKRA, HSD, UFL, SMA, PCB layout, audio, video terminal etc. Complies with the frequencies of 200MHz, 700MHz, 2GHz, 4GHz, 6GHz, 12GHz, etc. Easy maintenance, thanks to exchangeable inner probe.
Do you have high current type probes?
We have the HSS series lineup.
There are HSS-118(MAX 20A), HSS-120(MAX 30A), HSS-150(MAX 50A) types, and also maximum 400A type available.
The most unique advantage of INGUN high frequency probes is the structure which reduces resistance value and also allows larger current flow, thanks to the large contact area which is realized by two inside parts of the plunger during probing. This realizes compatibility of INGUN probes for high current even thin type profile.
